K Electric hints additional load shedding in Karachi
KARACHI: K Electric cited additional load shedding as the reason for the shortfall in gas supply.
According to a spokesman for Electric, the reduction in gas supply may lead to additional load shedding, while there will be three to five hours of power outages in the exception areas.
The spokesman said that K Electric is currently facing a shortage of 400 MW. The capacity of gas-fired Korangi and site power plants has also been affected.
Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan wrote in his tweet that the Sindh government is responsible for the gas shortage because even after a year and a half, the Sindh government is not allowing the right of way for the new pipeline but K Electric gets 100 million MMC per day.
