 JUI-F leader Salahuddin Ayyubi accused of marrying a minor girl

The Chitral police have started carrying out investigation in the regard to the marriage of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Salahuddin Ayyubi with a 14-year-old girl from Chitral.

According to the Chitral police station SHO Inspector Sajjad Ahmed, the family of girl is out of town and now unreachable. Police will conduct further inquiries once they arrive back to Chitral.

Earlier, on 18th February, an organization, Anjuman Dawat-o-Azeemat, informed the police about the marriage and appealed to find whether the girl is aged 18, if not, legal actions should be carried out. (DAWN reported)

Moreover, investigation has revealed that the girl is a student of a government school in Jughoor and according to her school’s records, the birth date is 28th October, 2008. Thus, the girl would be considered as minor as per the laws.

The father of the girl has repudiated the information about his daughter’s marriage.

The JUI-F leader is a National Assembly lawmaker hailing from Balochistan
