Karachi: Journalist Athar Mateen shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Karachi
Unidentified assailants opened fire on a vehicle in North Nazimabad area of Karachi, killed journalist Athar Mateen.
The journalist was affiliated with a private news channel. The slain journalist was dropping his children off at school and returning home.
According to sources, his body has been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
SP Gulberg Tahir Noorani said that Athar Mateen was returning home after dropping off three children when a motorcyclist tried to stop Athar Mateen.
SP Gulberg said the motorcyclist fled after the shooting and would investigate further with the help of CCTV footage.
SP Gulberg said the bullet hit Athar Mateen in the chest.
MQM leader Amin-ul-Haq said, MQM condemns the murder of journalist Athar Mateen.
He said that law and order situation in Karachi is deteriorating, political recruitment in police would be stop immediately and action should be taken against the concerned officers.
Amin-ul-Haq further said that Sindh government has failed to establish law and order.
