Journalist arrested after netizens demanded justice for Sadaf Zahra
RAWALPINDI: The suspect, Ali Salman Alvi, who is alleged to have forced a woman, Sadaf Zahra Naqvi, to commit suicide through his behavior has been arrested by Rawalpindi police on Wednesday.
The arrest has been made after netizens demanded justice for the woman using hashtag #justiceforzahra on Twitter. An FIR has also been lodged against him.
Ali Salman Alvi is a journalist and enjoys massive following on twitter. He met Sadaf Zahra on Twitter and here they made friendship which turned into a marriage relationship, despite huge resistance from family of Zahra Naqvi. Later, the woman found out that this man, who presumably was a champion of feminism, was actually a womanizer, trained blackmailer and criminal minded person.
She warned him several times which was followed by apologies from Salman Alvi and later brutally beating of Zahra Naqvi. In the meanwhile, she had a daughter. She thought that Salman might stop his wrongdoings after the birth of his daughter however he continued flirting with different women. Following which, Zahra Naqvi left him.
A friend of the deceased alleged that Salman Alvi used dozens of social media identities to lure girls.
“Sadaf Naqvi was beaten one more time, between Jan 2020 and June 2020, which was discovered later. On Jun 20, Sadaf celebrated her daughter’s first birthday and on the morning of 29th June she was found dead at her home with brutal torture marks,” she said.
“During 3 years of marriage, Sadaf caught Ali Salman Alvi blackmailing women for money, flirting and pleasing women for money. She was planning to move out soon after her daughter’s first birthday, but he didn’t gave her that chance. It was after Jan that she had actually started talking to her family and showing evidence to her sister Syeda Mahvish , who is now fighting for justice.
“It is important to serve justice to Sadaf by defeating a blackmailing mafia like Ali Salman, else he would be out on streets.”
