Jofra Archer defends Moeen Ali against Islamophobic remarks

English paceman Jofra Archer on Tuesday came out in the support of his fellow teammate Moeen Ali when a Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen took a jibe at him on Twitter.

In her tweet (which has been deleted), the author wrote: “If Moeen Ali were not stuck with cricket, he would have gone to Syria to join IS (Islamic State).”

Responding to Nasreen, Jofra Archer said, “Are you okay ? I don’t think you’re okay.”

However, later the author deleted the post and claimed that her tweet was “sarcastic”. “One of the greatest tragedies of humankind is pro-women leftists support anti-women Islamists,” She argued.

Haters know very well that my Moeen Ali tweet was sarcastic. But they made that an issue to humiliate me because I try to secularize Muslim society & I oppose Islamic fanaticism. One of the greatest tragedies of humankind is pro-women leftists support anti-women Islamists.

Once again Archer responded and said that no one was laughing at her sarcasm, not even herself and the least she could do was “delete the tweet”.

Please everyone report taslimas account! Disgusting!

Other English cricketers like Saqib Mahmood and Sam Billings also defended Moeen Ali.

Meanwhile, according to Indian media, Moeen Ali’s father Munir Ali has branded Taslima Nasreen’s remarks over his son as ”Islamophobic”, followed by criticism on social media.
