Jennifer Gates, Bill Gates’ daughter, marries her Muslim fiancé.
Jennifer Gates, the eldest child of Bill and Melinda Gates, married her Muslim fiancé Nayel Nassar in a private ceremony on Friday, according to foreign news outlets.
It was a modest Muslim gathering at Bill’s huge New York mansion. On Saturday, a large celebration was held at the same site, attended by over 300 people, and featured performances by Coldplay and Harry Hudson.
The guest list was primarily made up of family and friends, although a few politicians were also invited.
Jennifer, 25, is said to have started dating Nayel, 30, in 2017. Nayel is a Stanford University graduate, entrepreneur, and excellent equestrian. Jennifer and Nayel confirmed their engagement in January 2020.
Jennifer wore a Vera Wang long-sleeved gown to the reception. Bill and Melinda reunited for the first time since announcing their divorce earlier this year, at the request of their daughter. Bill dressed down for the occasion in a black suit, while Melinda wore a purple gown.
The lavish two-day event reportedly cost a whopping $2 million. When the event began, tight security was deployed, and the road outside the Gates estate was closed to all traffic except the attendees.
Jennifer posted photographs from her bridal shower, which Melinda hosted, on Instagram last month. She expressed gratitude to her mother for advising, supporting, and elevating her.
Jennifer Gates, who is also an equestrian, is a medical student in New York.
