Jazlan murder case: Family demands to form JIT for investigation

The family of 19-year-old Jazlan Faisal, who was killed in Bahria Town Karachi on May 24, has demanded formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the murder.
The application sent by the Jazlan’s grandfather Sabir Ali Khan has requested the Home Department to set up a JIT stating that, the perpetrators of the heinous crime were “highly politically influential”, which was affecting the real inquiry by the police.
The victim’s grandfather claimed that the accused were known for various crimes and that several FIRs had been registered against him from which he had somehow managed to escape.
Prime accused in this case Ahsan Faiz, who according to his arrested Brother Hasnain Faiz had shot Jazlan, is being protected by a political leader.
According to the statement of accused Hasnain, the 9mm pistol belonging to his father has not been recovered so far.
In an application sent to the Home Department, the victim’s grandfather said that Inshal Wasim was handed over to the police on June 4, he was ready to be a witness but on the same day he was attacked by Faiz Mohammad’s family. He was pressured to confess to the crime alone.
The family members said that the witnesses are scared and it is not possible for them to appear without JIT, which is an obstacle in the way of justice.
The victim’s grandfather has urged the Home Department to provide protection to the accused Inshal, Jazlan’s family and witnesses.
Sources said that the Home Department has forwarded the request of the victim’s grandfather to Additional IG Karachi Javed Akhtar Odho so that he could review the contents of the request and provide necessary assistance for speedy delivery of justice in the investigation of the case.
