Jahangir Tareen lobbied to get Asad Umar removed as finance minister, claims Fawad Ch

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Tuesday said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) stalwart leader Jahangir Khan Tareen had got Asad Umar removed as finance minister.
He claimed that infighting among three party members sent politicians packing and replaced them with bureaucracy. He said when Asad Umar returned to the cabinet he got Jahangir Tareen removed from the party affairs. He said Jahangir Tareen and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi could not come to terms on political issues.
The federal minister admitted that ‘the change’ could not come because of their negligence.
“Fighting among Jahangir, Asad and Mehmood Qureshi inflicted damage on the party,” he said.
Asad Umar had stepped down from the post of finance minister in Apr 2019 and returned to the federal cabinet as planning minister in Nov 2019.
