It would be better to fight the war of Assembly within the Assembly: Chief Justice of Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial has remarked in hearing on the petition of the Supreme Court Bar Association that this is an internal matter of the entire National Assembly and therefore it would be better to fight the battle of the Assembly within the Assembly.
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, is hearing Supreme Courts Bar’s plea to stop the political gatherings before the No-Confidence motion.
Other political leaders including Shahbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman also reached the court.
During the hearing, the lawyer for the Supreme Court bar said that the Speaker was asked to convene a meeting on March 25. Under Article 95, a sitting has to be convened within 14 days. The Speaker has no right to delay more than 14 days. The meeting cannot be adjourned indefinitely until a decision is taken on the No-Confidence motion.
Chief Justice of Pakistan said that the court has to ensure that no one is deprived of voting due to any event, voting is a constitutional right of the members, the court is not persuaded to interfere in the proceedings of the assembly, the court only wants that The right is not affected.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that this is an internal matter of the National Assembly. It would be better to fight the battle of the Assembly inside the Assembly.
