Israel launches airstrikes in Gaza for second time after ceasefire

Israel carried out air strikes in Gaza on Thursday night after Palestinians launched incendiary balloons from the territory.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths.
According to Israel’s military, arson balloons were launched from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.
“In response… fighter jets struck military compounds and a rocket launch site belonging to the Hamas terror organisation.” said the military.
Earlier, Israeli forces used stun grenades and skunk water against Palestinian protesters in occupied East Jerusalem.
The escalating violence threatens to unravel the tenuous May 21 truce that brought an end to 11 days of fighting that killed more than 250 people in Gaza and 13 others in Israel.
This week’s airstrikes on Gaza were the first under Israel’s new government headed by Naftali Bennett, whose ideologically disparate coalition on Sunday ousted long-serving prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
