“ISPR should listen Khawaja Asif’s NA speech to hear what disrespect for martyrs, institutions sounds like,” Asad Umar

In a series of tweets, PTI secretary general Asad Umar has responded to the statement of ISPR where it termed allegations of PTI Chief Imran Khan ‘baseless and irresponsible’.
Asad Umar said that the yesterday’s statement of ISPR has made ‘unfounded’ allegations against PTI chief Imran Khan as he has never spoken against the state institutions, added that, he has always spoken about the need to strengthen the institution.
Referring to ISPR’s claim of accountability in the institution, PTI leader asked that: “If no member of the institution does anything wrong, why are court martials carried out. Even general officers have been court martialed in the past. If they do carry out acts which can be subject to court martial why cannot they be criticized as individuals?”
In another tweet, Asad Umar has rejected the “attempt to equate criticism of individuals with criticism of the institution” and elaborated that the institutions deserve love and respect for their sacrifices to protect the nation but not every member is worthy of that love and respect.
Referring to ISPR’s demand to take legal action against those found to falsely accuse institution, PTI leader said that: “If ISPR wants to hear what disrespect for martyrs and the institution sound like, all they have to do is listen to the famous NA speech of the current defense minister where he claims the institution has ripped off the flesh of the nation from its bones.”
Earlier, responding to serious allegations levelled by PTI Chairman Imran Khan against the country’s military, the ISPR has responded saying that baseless allegations against a senior army office are “absolutely unacceptable.”
The ISPR went on to say that the Pakistan army prides itself for being an extremely professional organisation and no one will be allowed to defame the institution just by irresponsible allegations.
The ISPR has requested the government of Pakistan to investigate the matter and take legal action against those found to falsely avcuse the institution without any evidence whatsoever.
