Famous religious scholar from Jhelum, Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, has survived another assassination attempt.
According to reports, Muhammad Ali Mirza is safe and sound. This is the second murder attempt on his life in last three to four years.
Mirza is famously known for his “unconventional” and “non-sectarian” approach in preaching religion. His video lectures and messages have been critically reviewed by his followers and critics on social media.
Last year in May, 2020, Mirza was arrested in suspicion of spreading hate speech towards religious scholars but later he was released and claimed that one of his lecture was presented out of context.
Karachi-based social media activist and lawyer, Jibran Nasir, has condemned the attack on the scholar. “His crime is debunking myths & false narratives perpetuated in name of Islam through research papers,” Nasir posts on Twitter.
According to the activist, the attacker made an assault because he believed “Engr. Ali is an Ahmadi” however, the victim has denied such claims many times.
“This is also only possible due to the hate we’ve instilled in the hearts of our masses against them,” states Nasir.
