In the 30th match of the Pakistan Super League season six, Islamabad United have beaten Multan Sultans by four wickets in a thrilling last-over game at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
Both the teams will once again face each other in qualifier on Monday at 6pm (local time).
Earlier, the United won the toss and invited Multan Sultans for batting. The Sultans struggled to set 150-run target which was eventually chased by the United in the last over for the loss of six wickets. However, the later part of the game was dominated by the Sultans.
Shahnawaz Dahani and Usman Qadir took two wickets each for the Sultans. Mohammad Wasim bagged four-wicket haul for the United, followed by Faheem Ashraf (two wickets) and Fawad Ahmed (two wickets).
Shan Masood smashed half-century against the United in the first innings. During the second innings, Shadab Khan remained the top scorer with a contribution of 35 runs.
After the league stage was concluded, Islamabad United stood first in the points table while the Sultans claimed the second position.
Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi have also qualified for playoffs who will compete against each other on Monday at 11pm (local time).
It was the second league stage match between the two franchises. Islamabad United had beaten Multan Sultans by three wickets on February 21 at National Stadium, Karachi.
Earlier, the PSL6 was postponed in March due to growing Covid-19 concerns in Pakistan. It was later rescheduled in United Arab Emirates which resumed on June 9.
