Islamabad suspends interprovincial public transport for two days a week

ISLAMABAD: The local administration of Islamabad has suspended interprovincial public transport for two days a week amid growing number of coronavirus cases in the federal capital.
The administration in a notification announced that following the decision of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) and after analysis of epidemiological trend by the Nerve Centre established in the office of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad all types of interprovincial public transport to and from the city would remain suspended for two days a week.
It said that the ban was imposed to prevent community spread of virus and it would not be applicable to private vehicles, goods/ freight/ medical/ other emergency services transport.
“It is further stated that all the SOPs issued by this office will be strictly enforced in the remaining five days,” read the notification.
The ban will be imposed with effect from midnight of April 9 and will remain effective till midnight of April 25.
