Islamabad High Court lay charges against Rana Shamim in contempt of court case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has indicted former Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Justice Rana Shamim in a contempt of court case.

Former Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Justice Rana Shamim has been indicted in the affidavit case. Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Athar Minullah read out the charge sheet. In his remarks he said, what kind of statement is it that the judges of this court are compromised? This court believes in public accountability.

During the hearing, the Attorney General requested the Islamabad High Court not to indict the journalists. The court adjourned the indictment of Ansar Abbasi and other media representatives.

The court rejected the appeal of Rana Shamim to stop his character assassination. The Islamabad High Court also rejected the intra-court appeal of Rana Shamim’s daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter.
