ISLAMABAD: A court in Islamabad on Monday directed the relevant authorities to register a first information report (FIR) against Cynthia Ritchie, an American woman who has made serious allegations against the top leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party.
Following hearing arguments of both the litigants, Additional District and Session Judge Jahangir Awan had reserved the verdict of the case on Jun 13.
The court has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to file the complaint against the woman. After refusal from the FIA, Pakistan Peoples Party Islamabad President Shakeel Abbasi had moved the court demanding lodging of a case against Cynthia for running smear campaign against his party leadership on social media. While, the FIA had pleaded to the court to turn down the request of the PPP leader.
Cynthia Ritchie has claimed that former interior minister Rehman Malik had raped her, while former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani had groped her during separate meetings.
Last week, she also shared photos of her meetings with Yousaf Raza Gilani, Rehman Malik, and Makhdoom Shahabuddin.
Ritchie claimed that her first meeting with Yousaf Raza Gilani was held during his government. The American blogger had said that she hoped that the investigating agencies would review the record of her arrival in the presidency.
