Islamabad court approves two-day physical remand of Shahbaz Gill in treason case
A local court in Islamabad on Wednesday approved two-day physical remand of PTI Leader Shahbaz Gill in treason case.
PTI leader Shahbaz Gill was produced in the Islamabad court where the court reserved its verdict on the police’s request for physical remand.
PTI leader Shahbaz Gill was arrested by the Islamabad police on charges of sedition and inciting people against state institutions.
Shahbaz Gill was brought to the local court of Islamabad, Dr. Shahbaz Gul was produced in the court by Kohsar police station of Islamabad.
Dr. Shahbaz Gill was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir, Shahbaz Gill’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry also appeared in the court.
Physical remand was requested by Islamabad Police for investigation while Shahbaz Gill’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry opposed his physical remand.
Providing reasons for the remand, the police told the court they still need to recover Gill’s mobile phone and the device he used to make the statements he was arrested for.
“We also need to investigate at whose behest the programme was aired,” the police told the judge.
In the decision of the court, while accepting the request of the police for 2-day physical remand, it has been said that the accused should be presented before the court again on August 12.
Shahbaz Gill’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry said that the program was not done at the behest of anyone.
During Shahbaz Gill’s appearance in the District and Sessions Court, the Islamabad Police barred journalists from entering the courtroom.
The Islamabad police official said that the judge has ordered not to allow journalists to enter the court room.
