Ishaq Dar leaves for US to hold talks with IMF, World Bank

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar on Tuesday left for the United States (US) for talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB).
It is expected that Ishaq Dar will also hold separate meetings with the important officials of these global financial institutions during his visit to USA.
The Finance Secretary will also meet with central bankers, ministers, private sector executives and other stakeholders in the United States to discuss ways to address growing global challenges.
The Finance Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to honorably complete the IMF program with all terms and timely payments to bondholders and Paris Club creditors.
Talking to reporters, the finance minister said that there is no point in extending the repayment of Paris Club loans as the total debt of these creditors is not more than 11 percent of the total foreign debt and this would increase the amount of debt received during the year.
“The relief will be less than $1.2 billion while Pakistan owes about $10.7 billion to the Paris Club countries,” he added.
