Is Imran Khan The Only Prime Minister To Have Impressed Us With His Choice of Wearing To the White House?
On Monday, Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan landed in Washington DC to meet the president of United States of America Donald Trump.
President Trump and Prime Minister Khan discussed a range of issues, including counter terrorism, defense, energy, and trade, with the goal of creating the conditions for a peaceful South Asia and an enduring partnership between the countries.
As seen many times, Imran Khan likes to wear traditional clothes like he wore a sherwani on his oath taking ceremony. He is a huge fan of Peshawari chappals (sandals), monochromatic kameez (tunics) and white shalwars (loose trousers), topped with a blazer or a structured waistcoat.
When Imran Khan arrived at the White House, his attire mezmerised everyone. He chose to wear a navy blue traditional shalwar kameez with a same color blazer on top and a peshawari chappal.
In the past, Pakistani heads of state and high-ranking officials meeting world leaders, particularly in the US, have opted for a suit and tie, but Khan broke the trend!
However, wearing traditional dress is not an unprecedented territory. Former president Zia-ul-Haq was the first Paksitani leader who wore a Sherwani to the white house in 1982.
