LORALAI: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Wednesday wondered whether the army was for the country or the country was for the army.
Addressing a public gathering of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Loralai, Mahmood Khan Achakzai asked people to raise the slogan ‘Allah u Akbar’. Then he said, the slogan meant that one should surrender before Allah (SWT) only and one should not bow before anybody’s pressure or oppression.
He said the purpose behind formation of the PDM was to hold the army responsible for all the destructions in the country for their 30-year unopposed rulership. Now the army itself had to decide whether the country was for them or they were to serve the country, he maintained.
“We are not against the army, however, we respect the soldier who abides by and respects the constitution and fulfills his professional responsibilities. Pakistan is our country because our homes and graves are here. We are not conquered. Neither we consider anybody our master nor we are slaves to anyone,” he said.
The PkMAP chief asked people to gear up for the revolution, the revolution which provided two-time’s meal to impoverished.
