The price of tomatoes will not drop although the government has accepted the import of tomatoes from Iran.
16 more containers of Iranian tomatoes arrived in Karachi Tuesday night, however, on Wednesday morning, the price at markets did not drop to its original price.
Currently there are 352 tons of Iranian tomatoes in the market, which should decrease prices. Prices of tomatoes had skyrocketed, with the produce being sold for Rs 480 per kilo in a few areas.
While the prices did go down to Rs210 at Farmers’ markets, main markets in Karachi continued selling tomatoes at over Rs 300 per kilo.
The Karachi commissioner has refrained people not to buy expensive tomatoes from the vendors. He further said that the prices will come down if people do not buy them
