Iran appoints Ghaani as new leader of Quds Force

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei named Brigadier Esmail Ghaani as the Quds Force’s new leader, Iran’s news sources announced on Friday.
Ghaani served as the deputy of Soleimani. In a decree, Khamenei described him during the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s as one of the most influential military commanders.

In a U.S. attack at Baghdad’s international airport on Friday morning, Soleimani was killed.
The Pentagon said President Trump ordered his “killing,” following a pro-Iran mob laying siege to the U.S. embassy in Iraq this week.
