ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani on Monday said conflicts like Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir were a constant reminder to double the efforts for lasting peace, security and betterment of humanity.
This he stated while speaking at a function in Islamabad. President of inter-Parliamentary Union Gabriela Cuevas Barron also attended the ceremony.
Sadiq Sanjrani highlighting human rights violations by the occupation Indian troops in occupied territory said peace and development were linked.
“The global peace and development can be attained when special attention is given to vulnerable groups within the poor and destitute,” he said.
IPU President Gabriela Cuevas Barron on this occasion said we would need to make joint efforts to overcome socio-economic issues and parliament had the crucial role in protecting and promoting human rights.
She said multi-lateral cooperation was the need of the hour and it was the only option to address common issues through collective approach.
Separately, while meeting President Inter-Parliamentary Union Gabriela Cuevas Barron in Islamabad on Monday, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani said Pakistan believed in dialogue for resolution of dispute and progress and development.
He said Inter-Parliamentary Union provided the way of dialogue for member states to resolve their issues.
The chairman Senate said Pakistan was striving for regional peace. “It is the common agenda of Pakistan and Inter-Parliamentary Union to make the journey of progress pleasant.”
On the occasion, the IPU President expressed resolve to work jointly for promotion of mutual contacts. She said Pakistan is an active member of Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The two sides agreed to promote institutional cooperation.
