Investigation team formed over Maryam Nawaz’s advertisement allotment audio leak

An investigation team has been formed by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry after Maryam Nawaz accepted the voice in leaked audio is hers.

During a presser, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday (yesterday) accepted the fact that the audio about the disbursement of advertisement to news channels during the PML-N government’s tenure was not edited.

Maryam further said that this was her voice, it was not doctored.

The PTI led government has shared their stance and said that how can Maryam Nawaz allot the government advertisements as she was not in charge of any government designation.

Fawad Chaudhry has formed a team to further investigate the matter.

Reports suggest that Rs9.62 billion worth of ads run on government’s money was allotted to some media houses and some were not disbursed with the same amount of government advertisement.

Senate Standing Committee has also taken notice of the matter and asked for the details of the government run ads during the recent tenures of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) governments.

Maryam Nawaz yesterday’s acceptance has stirred up a wave of controversy as the current administration has said that how was she heading the media cell of PML-N when the PML-N administration has denied the existence of media cells in the first place.
