Waqas Ahmed, a young man from Peshawar has broken all odds by making Biryani, especially for the Christian community on the festive occasion of Christmas.
“All(of us), whether Muslim, Hindu, Sikh or Christian, we should share our happiness and grievances with each other,” said Waqas while giving an interview to Dialogue Pakistan. “People always told me ‘this(visiting church) is a sin you should not go there’ but I don’t agree(with them)[..]They(Christians) celebrate Eid with us…we should also be with them in their moments of delights and (in their) tough times,” Waqas added.
The Christian community in Pakistan, is facing many severe issues like: alleged forced conversions, blasphemy cases and marginalization. They have been a target of terrorism in the past with Peshawar Church Bombing marked as the deadliest attack on the community killing 127 people in 2013.
