‘Inshallah’ is now officially a German word
The word ‘Inshallah’ was recognized by the most authoritative dictionary of Germany, the Duden, which previously had added the Turkish expression “oha” as well.
Inshallah in Duden’s digital version is spelled as ‘inshchallah’. However, there is no confirmation if the word would be added in its print version or not.
The word Inshallah means ‘Allah willing’ or ‘if Allah wills’ and is used by Muslims all over the world. The word is also used when speaking of a future event.
The Duden dictionary is considered as the most authoritative and popular dictionary in Germany. Many Germans are criticizing the dictionary for adding up the word Inshallah and calling it the increasing Islamisation of Germany.
In Europe, Germany has the second-largest Muslim population of five million. It makes up about 6% of the country’s population.
