Industrialists and a representative body of the traders met with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and requested that he allow them to resume business in the province.
“We will open businesses as per the government’s SOPs,” said Mian Zahid Hussain, president of the All Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals and All Karachi Industrial Alliance.
In briefing the CM on the business community’s problems, Hussain demanded that the government allow businesses to operate on Fridays and Saturdays and expand restaurants’ home delivery timings.
Within the new restrictions, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are free days when commercial operations are not allowed except for important businesses, such as pharmacies and grocery stores.
The umbrella body of the business community also demanded reopening of food courts at shopping malls. The CM told them he would take their suggestions into account and said they would be supported by the government during the national committee meeting scheduled for May 31.
