India’s ‘unofficial’ Kabaddi team arrives in Pakistan
NEW DELHI: An Indian Kabaddi team has arrived in Pakistan reportedly without getting permission from any authority to participate in the Kabaddi World Cup 2020.
Indian national kabaddi federation and sports ministry both have denied giving permission to players to go to play the world cup in Pakistan. The group had arrived here through Wagah border on Feb 8.
In a statement, Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) Administer Justice (retd) SP Garg said AKFI has no information about any Kabaddi team to have gone to Pakistan.
“No permission was ever granted by AKFI to any team to go to Pakistan and play any Kabaddi match there. We came to know about it only after information was sought. AKFI does not support any such activity. Legal action may be taken against the defaulters,” he said.
Pakistan beat Canada by 64 to 24 points in the opening match of the Kabbadi World Cup 2020 at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore on Feb 9. While, the match between Iran and Sierra Leone was won by Iran.
