Indian Singer and Congress Leader Sidhu Moosewala shot dead
Renowned Indian Punjabi Singer, rapper and Congress Leader Sidhu Moosewala has been shot dead by unidentified assailants in Mansa District of Punjab on Sunday May 29. Sidhu Moosewala had contested the Punjab Assembly polls on a Congress ticket from Mansa in 2022.
According to Indian media reports, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district on Sunday.
Unidentified assailants attacked Sidhu’s vehicle and fired more than 30 shots, as a result of which Sidhu and two others in the vehicle were seriously injured and taken to hospital.
However, Sidhu lost his life in the hospital while the condition of the other two injured is critical.
Sidhu Moosewala had contested the Punjab Assembly elections from Mansa on a Congress ticket this year but was defeated by ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ candidate Vijay Singla by a huge margin of 63,000 votes.
Last month, Sidhu, in his song ‘Scapegoat’, targeted the Aam Aadmi Party and its supporters and called them ‘traitors’.
According to reports, his security had been withdrawn a day earlier as part of the Punjab government’s efforts to eradicate VIP culture, so Sidhu was on his way to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding security.
Police, on the other hand, have claimed that a Canadian gangster has claimed responsibility for the killing of Sidhu Moosewala.
As news of the singer’s death came to light, the Indian film industry and politicians expressed deep sorrow and grief over his death.
Notably, Sidhu Moosewala was born on June 17, 1993. He belonged to Moosewala village of Mansa district. The Punjabi singer had millions of fans and was famous for his rap songs.
