A female teacher at a private school in the Indian state of Rajasthan was fired after she celebrated Pakistan’s World T20 victory against India on Sunday.
On Sunday night, Pakistan created history by defeating India for the first time in a World Cup match, breaking a terrible jinx that had begun in 1992.
According to the Kashmir Media Service, the Muslim teacher, Nafeesa Attari, was fired from her position at the Neerja Modi School in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district after celebrating Pakistan’s victory with a story on the popular messaging app WhatsApp.
The teacher took the brunt of the school administration’s wrath after posting the WhatsApp status “Jeeeet Gayeeee… We wonnn” just after Pakistan thrashed India in the much-anticipated World T20 match in Dubai.
She had also apparently shared photos of certain Pakistani players from the game, while celebrating on the Men in Green’s triumph.
According to the report, the instructor refused to budge when one of the children’ parents questioned if she supported Pakistan, to which she answered emphatically “yes.”
As per the report, the school administration dismissed her when images of her WhatsApp status circulated among students.
Following Pakistan’s remarkable triumph against India in the World T20 match, reporters and experts on the other side of the border analysed the humbling setback and questioned Virat Kohli’s strategies.
After India’s loss to arch-rival Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, bowler Mohammad Shami had been targeted with internet abuse.
As soon as India lost against Pakistan on Sunday, Indian fans flocked to Instagram and Twitter to make disparaging remarks about Mohammed Shami.
Pakistan trounced India by ten wickets, and none of the Indian bowlers were able to make an impression as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan spared no bowler.
