Indian PM Narendra Modi’s Twitter account hacked
Twitter on Thursday confirmed that account of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was hacked by some unknown people.
Tweets from the account asking people for donation through a cyptocurrency were later removed.
A spokesman of Twitter was quoted as saying by AFP that the social media company was aware of the hacking activity and had taken measures to secure the account. “We are actively investigating the situation,” he said. The spokesman did not reveal any information about other accounts being hacked.
In July, in a massive breach, accounts of more than 30 high-profile personalities including former US president Barack Obama, tech giants Elon Musk and Bill Gates were hacked. The similarity in the hacking activity is that the scammers wanted people to send them cryptocurrency, a decentralized digital currency based on cryptographic principles.
