A 14-year-old Muslim boy was thrashed for entering a temple and drinking water in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place on Thursday when a Muslim teenager named Asif had entered the temple to drink water and he was seen by the temple caretaker, Shringi Nandan Yadav, aged 23.
After which Yadav manhandled Asif and brutally beat him while recording the video of the incident.
Later the video went viral on social media in which Yadav was seen inquiring Asif, ”what are you doing inside the (Hindu) temple?”. “I came here to drink water,” replied Asif as the caretaker started beating him.
Many Indians on social media condemned the incident and launched a hashtag campaign ‘#SorryAsif‘ in support of the victim.
According to Indian media, Ghaziabad police took notice of the incident and arrested the main accused, Yadav, along with Shivanand Saraswati, another caretaker, who had recorded the incident.
