India has reported world’s biggest single-day rise in COVID cases with record-breaking 332,730 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the country’s death toll has risen to 1,86,920 as 2,263 more deaths were reported in a single day. India has so far reported 1,62,63,695 COVID cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
India is currently facing a severe crisis in the shape of the second wave of the infections. People are sharing disturbing images and videos on social media as the country deals with the shortage of oxygen at hospitals.
According to Indian media: “This is the ninth consecutive day the country has recorded over 2 lakh (200,000) coronavirus cases. As many as 1,36,48,159 patients have recovered from the disease so far, while there are 24,28,616 active cases.”
Pakistanis on social media are showing concerns over the worsening situation of the virus in India. Hashtags campaigns: #IndianNeedsOxygen and #IndianLivesMatter have become the top trends on Twitter in Pakistan.
Moreover, they are calling on Prime Minister Imran Khan to help the neighbouring country in the time of crisis.
On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 5,870 new COVID cases and 144 deaths in the past 24 hours.
