Increase in petroleum prices a day after relief package announcement

Petroleum prices are at the record highest price in the country as the increase in petroleum prices was increased by the government on Thursday night just a day after the announcement of the relief package.
As per the financial experts, prices have been increased to reach an agreement with the IMF for the revival of the loan programme.
Petrol price has been increased by Rs 8.03 per liter which makes the price of one-liter petrol to Rs 145.82 whereas high-speed diesel price is now at 142.62 per liter after an increase of Rs 8.14 per liter.
Light speed diesel price jacked up by Rs 5.72 per liter after which the commodity is available at Rs 114.07 per liter. Whereas, kerosene oil has now reached Rs 116.53 per liter after an increase of Rs 6.27 per liter in the notification issued by the Finance Department.
Just a day before the petroleum prices hike, the Prime Minister of Pakistan announced a relief package for the citizens. In his televised address to the nation, Imran Khan also gave hints of petroleum price increase in the future after the petroleum supplies price going up in the international market.

It should be mentioned that just a day after the announcement of the relief package on the common food items, a price hike was witnessed in the utility stores across Pakistan.
On November 1, it was expected that prices of petroleum commodities will go up but Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected the summary given by OGRA and directed that the prices of October 16 should be continued.

However, Spokesperson,& Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill gave the reason for the increase in the prices.
Previously, Energy Minister Hammad Azhar revealed that the government is under enormous pressure to collect levy as the target for one month was met in four months.
