“Include transgenders in the show next year”: Ali Zafar requests Lux Style Awards
Renowned Pakistani singer Ali Zafar has requested Lux Style Awards to honour the transgender community in the show next year and recognise their efforts.
The biggest award show of the Pakistan Entertainment Industry, the Lux Style Awards was held at the Expo Center in Lahore, in which Ali Zafar received the award for the best singer of the year.
When the singer came on stage to receive the award, in his speech he thanked his fans and also requested the management of the Luxstyle Awards to honour transgender people.
Taking to Instagram, Ali Zafar his speech from LSA and wrote, ‘I do wish to highlight the plight of our Khwaja Saras (transgenders) and their rights. The marginalised in society must be heard and given the attention and love they deserve”.
“I have requested Unilever, Unilever Pakistan and Lux Style include them (transgenders) in the show next year and have an ambassador for beauty from amongst them. We also have to see “beauty” with a whole new perspective”, Ali wrote.
Talking about his foundation and including transgenders as team members, Ali stated, “When we Ali Zafar Foundation started our food/Rashan drive during Covid, we first reached out to and included the KhwajaSira/Transgender community, followed by the Christian community and needy musicians. This was done with the intention to make them feel that they are an equal and respected part of our society”.
“I feel the most important thing we need to learn is to be tolerant to each others’ beliefs and be able to have an open discourse with the will to understand each other with love, compassion and kindness in our hearts…Replace every emotion with LOVE and then see the magic”, Ali Zafar concluded.
