In political conflict, Islamic values are being disregarded: Mufti Taqi Usmani

Mufti Taqi Usmani, a famous Islamic scholar, expressed deep concern about the growing disagreement among the country’s top political figures, saying that Islamic values are being violated in the country’s political squabbling.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has made inappropriate statements about his political opponents in the days since the Opposition filed a No-Confidence motion against him. Mufti Taqi Usmani’s statement was posted on his official Twitter account today.
“It’s terrifying to consider how Islamic principles and value are being exploited in political disputes. The Holy Qur’an says not to make fun of one another, do not gossip, do not be suspicious, or call anybody by their name in Surah Al-Hujurat.”
He also advised political leaders to be ethical, saying that it is harmful to society.
He stated, “Whether the disagreement is political or ideological, turning it into a matter of taking one’s own life and abusing one another is fatal to democracy. Arguments, not foul words, are used in criticism. Consider where we are heading.”
