Imran Khan reiterates not to give NRO to corrupt politicians

NANKANA SAHIB: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that the elite politicians would not be given the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), no matter what happened.

“Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf had given the NRO to Nawaz Sharif and his family to go to Saudi Arabia and also to former president Asif Zardari,” Imran Khan said while addressing the groundbreaking of Baba Guru Nanak University in Nankana Sahib.

On the Azadi March, he said when he became the PM he had predicted in his first address to the nation that all the corrupts would unite against his government.

“They have all united to blackmail. They had started crying from the day one that the government has failed,” he said adding that the real purpose behind the Azadi March was not their fear that the government was failing, but their fear was that the government was succeeding in its policies.

He said the Asian Development Bank and the International Monetary Fund and other economic international organizations were expressing satisfaction on economic progress.

Imran Khan said half of the amount of taxes that had been collected went into paying the debt that the previous governments had taken from international organisations.

He said the traders who had never been brought under the tax net had agreed to give fixed tax.

“Now we will see the country making swift progress. Until we do not become a knowledge economy, we cannot compete against the world economies,” he said.

Reacting to a court’s news, the PM said he could not give guarantee of his own life then how could he guarantee the life of Nawaz Sharif. Pakistan’s top surgeons had been sent for his treatment, he added.

“We are trying our best to provide the best medical facilities available in the country,” he said adding that life and death are in Allah’s hand.

He also said that no nation could become great until it had the system of rule of law in which the justice was served equally.

On 550 birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, Pakistan had laid foundation stone of the university university where our Sikh brothers from all over the world and local people could come to study, said PM Imran.

He said Auqaf lands were being confiscated by land mafia, therefore a university and a hospital near every shrine should be built.

“All the saints lived their life for humanity including Guru Nanak, Data Sahab, Mian Mir, Baba Fareed Gunj Shakar and Bulleh Shah. They served all their lives for humanity, therefore people love them. Allah gives respect the most to the person who serves humanity the most,” he said.

He said the world did not remember the rich but to those who served the humanity.

“Our Prophet Muhammed (SAWW) had distributed all his belongings before he passed away,” he said.

He said no matter how much Pakistan’s relations were tense with India we should not stop Sikhs from visiting their religious places in Pakistan as those hold paramount importance for them.

The premier said he wanted the medressah students to learn engineering, science, and other subjects as well.

“All elites regardless of their religion of Delhi used to study at medressah rather than studying at the English universities,” he said.

He said Hazrat Muhammed (SAWW)’s state of Medinah was exemplary.
