“I’m incredibly proud to support Joyland that proves Pakistani artists are among the best in global cinema”: Malala

Nobel prize laureate Malala Yousafzai is all set to join Pakistan’s Oscar submission film Joyland’s team as executive producer.
Talking to Variety, Malala said, “I am incredibly proud to support a film that proves Pakistani artists are among the best in global cinema. Joyland invites us to open our eyes to the people closest to us — to see our family members and friends as they are, not coloured by our own expectations or societal bias”.
Joyland’s director Saim Sadiq and actor Sarwat Gilani extended her a warm welcome on their Instagram handles.

Sarwat wrote, “Elated to have Malala be part of team Joyland. The film is all set to have its premiere at the London Film Festival tomorrow”.
Recently, Pakistan’s Oscars Selection Committee has shortlisted Joyland as the country’s submission to the 95th Academy Awards for the ‘International Feature Film Award’ category.
The Pakistan Oscar Committee chai Sharmeed Obaid Chinoy shared this news while stating, “We are delighted to be able to send one of our best to compete at the Academy Awards this year. Joyland gives us hope that Pakistani cinema is finally leaving a mark on the world stage. This may just be the year we get noticed! Congratulations to the entire filmmaking team”.
