ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed December 18 for hearing on the appeal filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif against his sentence in the Al-Azizia reference.
While the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has pleaded to the court to extend the duration of the punishment in the same case.
Registrar office of the IHC has issued a cause list. Divisional bench comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter will hold hearing into the case.
A verdict would be announced in judge Arshad Malik’s video case before hearing of the former PM’s plea. Nasir Butt, who played a key role in the video case, had requested to become a party in the Sharif’s Al-Azizia appeal.
Sharif was awarded a jail term of seven years at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore on grounds of being found guilty in Al-Aziza reference filed by the anti-graft watchdog.
