IHC orders Imran Khan to resubmit written response in 7 days

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday directed PTI Chairman Imran Khan to resubmit written response in contempt of court case in 7 days.
A 5-member bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, and Justice Babar Sattar heard the case.
The court staff and the former prime minister have reached the court room.
On this occasion, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and legal team were also present with him, while Babar Awan and his son were removed from the court room due to not being named in the list.
In the court room, Imran Khan also had an informal conversation with the journalists.
The journalist asked Imran Khan that he will apologize at some stage, Imran Khan replied that I have submitted my statement in the court.
“Why is there so much fear, I am surprised,” Khan said.
The journalist asked Imran Khan that, is he the next prime minister of this country, to which Khan replied ‘God knows.’
Today’s hearing:
When Imran Khan’s lawyer Hamid Khan came to the rostrum, Chief Justice Islamabad High Court remarked that he is also an assistant to this court along with Imran Khan’s lawyer, the written answer you submitted was not expected, this court expected that you will increase the confidence of the judiciary before coming here.
Justice Athar Minallah said that a political party should have faith in the rule of law and constitution.
“I was personally saddened by the written reply,” Justice Athar
“Through your response, I feel that Imran Khan has not understood that he has done anything wrong,” the IHC CJ told the PTI chairman’s lawyer.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court further said that Imran Khan has big fan following, the leader like Imran Khan should pay attention to every word he speak.
“I was expecting that he [Khan] might come to terms with the fact that he has done something wrong. A political leader has several followers, they should think before they speak.”
“Time doesn’t come back, just like what comes out of the tongue doesn’t go back,” CJ IHC said.
When Advocate General Jahangir Jadoon wanted to say something in the court, the court stopped him saying that this matter is between the person who allegedly committed contempt of court and the judiciary.

Earlier, Former Prime Minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has reached the Islamabad High Court for hearing of the contempt of court case against him.
The former prime minister has reached the court room, PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar were also present with him.
Ahead of the hearing, the Islamabad Capital Police has formed a special security plan.
According to the official Twitter account of Islamabad Capital Police, only persons with permission from Islamabad High Court will enter the court premises, alternative routes have been arranged for the residents of the area.
The tweet further stated that staff with the permit will be allowed limited transportation while instructing to call Rescue 15 for any information or emergency.
Background of the case:
The PTI chairman Imran Khan had staged a rally in the federal capital on August 20 to express solidarity with his chief of staff Shahbaz Gill after claims of torture inflicted on him in custody. He warned the Islamabad inspector-general and deputy inspector-general that he would “not spare” them, vowing to file cases against them for subjecting Gill to alleged inhuman torture.
Turning his guns towards the additional sessions judge Zeba Chaudhry, who sent Gill into physical remand on the police’s request, Khan then said she [the judge] should brace herself for consequences.
