LAHORE: The girl, whose insensitive pictures went viral on social media which were shot at the time when fire was sweeping through Hafeez Centre in Lahore, has said that she wanted to create a hope in the dark hour.
The inferno caused billions of rupees loss to traders and hundreds of people lost their livelihoods as they watched the shops being gutted in front of their eyes for 14 hours.
The social media influencer, Fatima Nasir, could be seen getting her pictures shot even at such places where a common man would not have access on that day such as fire brigade vehicles. She said she received death threats over the photoshoot.
“I have never received such a backlash in my whole life,” she said in an interview.
Netizens said she was busy in modelling while people’s life savings were on fire.
Defending her act, the girl said that the moment her pictures were being taken was the moment of joy for everybody present there because fire brigade vehicles of PDMA and WASA had arrived after water with Rescue 1122 had ended.
“It was a moment of new hope for everyone, that’s why I was happy,” she said.
Fatima Nasir admitted that she should not have taken such pictures on that occasion. She said she should have demonstrated more social responsibility.
