I am not surviving anymore but thriving in life: Nadia Jamil
A well-known name in the Pakistan showbiz industry Nadia Jamil recently opened up on battling sexual abuse in childhood.
The Damsa actor recently shared a heartfelt note on her Twitter handle. While sharing a bunch of picture collages of herself from different stages of life the actor wrote in the caption, “1st time I was sexually abused I was 4 years old, then 9, then 17/18,”
She further added, “It’s taken me years to fight deep depression, sadness, fear & a shame I had no business feeling”.
The actor said that now the surviving phase is over for her, she is now thriving in life. At the end of her tweet, she extended her love to all her admirers by saying, “you are never alone”.
In a country where victims are either shamed into being quiet or are too afraid to speak up, Jamil has always brought her pain to the forefront.
The Behadd actress journey is inspiring and full of hope. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 as announced by the actor on her social media handles. Throughout her journey with cancer, Nadia had been updating every detail on her social media handle. The fighter made sure to share empowering advice for her fans and cancer patients or survivors.
In 2021, Nadia Jamil confirmed that she is ‘officially cancer-free after a year-long battle with the illness.
Talking to Muniba Mazari during a show, Nadia shared her reason why she documented her traumatic incidents of life, “When I was sharing my journey, a lot of people messaged me and I pray for them so much today because when I was all alone and only God and my 13-year-old son were with me, these people would share their own stories or their loved ones who had survived breast cancer. That gave me hope. Because when a person develops cancer, everyone around that person is affected too. So it’s very important for people to constantly support each other.”
