Husband to 39 wives, father of 94 dies in India

Ziona Chana, believed to be the owner of the world’s largest family, has breathed his last in Indian state of Mizoram, it emerged on Sunday.
The 76-year-old deceased was the head of a local Christian sect and had 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grandchildren. The Chief Minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga has confirmed his death on social media.
“Mizoram and his village at Baktawng Tlangnuam has become a major tourist attraction in the state because of the family,” the CM expressed his grief.
As the head of 167-member family, the local media claims that Ziona was the owner of “world’s largest family”. The family reportedly lives in a single house.
Despite his huge family, Ziona Chana headed the local sect named “Chana” which was founded by his father in 1942. The Chana sect currently holds the membership of hundreds of families.
When he was 17, Ziona married to his first wife. He claimed to have married 10 women in a year.
