ANKARA: Hundreds of people have been sentenced to life in prison in connection with a failed 2016 military coup in Turkey.

According to the news 500 people have been accused of trying to stage a coup against the government from the airbase in the capital Ankara, in which the military tried to control fighter jets, helicopters, tanks and key state institutions and As a result, 250 people died.

This crucial trial is going on in dozens of courts of the country in which thousands of people have been accused of being involved in the military coup.

According to the foreign news agency AFP, a Turkish court has sentenced 337 former pilots to life in prison for plotting against the government of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in a failed military coup on July 15, 2016.

It should be noted that a military coup attempt was made in Turkey on July 15, 2016, in which an army group tried to overthrow the government of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan but was thwarted.

The Turkish government has blamed Fethullah Gulen, the leader of the US-based Gulen movement.
