Hundred-plus bogus degrees issued to students of Islamia College University in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: More than 100 bogus educational degree certificates have been issued to students of Islamia College University in Peshawar, a meritorious professor has made this claim in a letter.
It has emerged that some officials designated on higher posts in the university provided the bogus degrees to students in exchange for big capital. The degrees were found to be bogus upon verification, when the students applied for M-Phil programme.
A senior professor in a letter to the university chancellor, the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, requested for inquiry into the matter through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The letter read that the degrees issued to the students were found to be bogus when verified through the examination section. Some students were issued degrees despite they were failed in different subjects. Up to Rs90,000 were taken from students for one degree, it claimed.
