Higher educational institutes reopen in KP from today

PESHAWAR: Higher educational institutes have reopened across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Monday (today), despite deteriorating situation of COVID-19 pandemic.
The department of higher education had earlier announced to shut down the educational institutes, colleges and universities, from July 12 to 31.
In a statement, the department said the institutes would continue educational activities under the coronavirus standard operating procedures.

On Aug 1, Special Assistant on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan had said the fourth wave of the coronavirus had put pressure on the health system of Karachi, Abbottabad and Islamabad.
“Now the positivity ratio has surged to 8.8 percent in the country. The number of cases is also increasing on daily basis due to the fourth wave of coronavirus,” he said.
He urged the general public to follow the precautionary measures against the coronavirus pandemic. He said vaccination was of vital importance as it reduced the risk of coronavirus.
