PESHAWAR: HEC has issued the SOPs, guidelines and schedule for reopening universities. Universities will be operational in several phases, from 3rd August to 15th August.
The first phase will be for students and faculty members who are facing internet connectivity issues. The second phase will be for final year students, who have house jobs or other practical courses. In the third and the last phase, the university will open for all students.
HEC has further stated that university syndicates and Vice Chancellors can make their own decisions to re-open the universities.
University of Peshawar has formed a committee to decide how to follow the guidelines and two meeting have been conducted so far, discussing the action plan for re-opening university. It has stated that the university will be opened after the action plan is decided.
Meanwhile, HEC has said that the universities cannot be made to self-quarantine, and that there will be fear of spread coronavirus through food vendors, transportation and local interactions. HEC has also told the universities to assure the availability of necessary medications and health facilities, such as testing kits, PPEs, CCTV cameras and a proper sanitization system.
The third phase will start on September 15th, 2020, when all, new and old, students will be allowed to come in the campus.
