KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued contempt of court notices to Traffic Police East SP Farah Umbreen and the provincial home ministry for failure to comply with the court order of keeping the main arteries of Karachi open during the Pakistan Super League 6 matches.
Hearing the case, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar said people should not be irked of traffic jam issues because of the tournament.
A member of the Pasban Democratic Party, Aziz Fatima had filed the petition against issues of vehicular traffic in the metropolitan. He said that a young man had died because of traffic jam while he was being shifted to hospital.
A couple of roads have been blocked by placing containers on them, however police have said that none of the roads were blocked. They said that some security arrangements were made only for a limited time period during arrival and departure of teams.
The petitioner said that road blockage was causing disturbance in daily routine of people and was a violation of basic rights of the citizen under the Constitution of Pakistan.
