Helena becomes first Pakistani woman UN Police Commissioner
Helena Iqbal Saeed, an additional inspector general, has become the first Pakistani woman UN Police Commissioner in Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan.
Helena Saeed was appointed as the female Additional Inspector General (AIG), the highest-ranking female officer of the Police Service of Pakistan as yet, in April 2019. She was also the first-ever AIG from Quetta. She belongs to a Christian family.
She will now serve at the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) after the fresh appointment.
In January the following year, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had appointed Sonia Shamroz Khan as the first female District Police Officer.
“For the first time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a woman police officer has been appointed district police chief,” KP Police had written on its Twitter account.
Previously, after finishing the CSS, Sonia was appointed as Additional SSP for Abbottabad. Moreover, she had been the first woman who worked at police training school as a principal.
