Pakistan’s first blind civil servant, Saima Saleem is working at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

She is also been referred to as “Helen Keller of Pakistan”. She has an M. Phil in English Literature.

She got a gold medal at the Bachelor and Master level and attained 6th position in Pakistan and first amongst women in the CSS exam. She took a stand for her rights and because of that, it was the first time in Pakistan exams were conducted in Braille.

She wanted to do her exam herself instead of taking help of a writer. Saima uses Screen-Reader software (JAWS) so that she can work on her own on the computer and software.
